What is CrossFit, and is it suitable for beginners?

CrossFit is a high-intensity fitness program incorporating elements from various sports and exercises. At Oxhouse, our workouts are scalable, making them suitable for all fitness levels, including beginners.

What is HYROX?

HYROX is a global fitness race that combines running and functional workouts. It’s the same format every time: 1km run followed by 1 functional movement, repeated 8 times. It’s designed to be a test of endurance, strength and mental grit - and it's for everyday athletes, not just elites.

​Do I need to be fit before starting CrossFit or HYROX?

Not at all! Our programs are designed to improve your fitness, regardless of your starting point.

Do I need to be a runner to do HYROX?

Nope. You’ll run a total of 8km across the event, broken into 1km chunks. We’ll help you build up your running gradually alongside strength and conditioning work, even if you’re not a natural runner.

​How do you accommodate individuals with existing injuries?​

We can adapt exercises and workouts to keep you progressing despite certain limitations. ​

Can I train for HYROX at Oxhouse even if I’m not doing CrossFit?

Yes! While CrossFit builds an amazing base for HYROX, we offer HYROX-focused sessions that are open to anyone looking to train specifically for the event, whether you’re a member or dropping in just for HYROX prep.

​What facilities and equipment does Oxhouse offer?​

We pride ourselves on offering a great range of fully coached functional fitness classes, including daily WODs and specialty Olympic lifting classes. Our facility is equipped with state-of-the-art fitness equipment, spacious training areas, and amenities like showers and changing rooms. ​

​How can I get started at Oxhouse?​

We offer introductory sessions for new joiners. You can book a free trial to discuss your fitness goals and see if our community is the right fit for you. ​

​What should I bring to my first class?​
